Arilds Whisky Salmon

Arild’s Whiskey Salmon is a new seafood product in the Arctic Taste of Norway product range, and is based on further development of Arild’s Smoked Salmon.

The product is a collaborative project with the World’s northernmost whisky distillery – Aurora Spirit – and spice designer Ivar Laukholm of Chef Laukholm AS.

The development of the Whisky Salmon

Whisky and salmon is an exciting combination of flavours. The challenge was to create a marinade which added new flavours that elevated the product while maintaning the delicious flavour we know from Arild’s Smoked Salmon. And that’s just what we think we have managed. A specially produced whisky from Aurora Spirit in combination with carefully selected spices from Ivar Laukholm from Chef Laukholm AS, has elevated our smoked salmon to new heights in the shape of a new and exciting product – the Whisky Salmon.

Producing the whisky salmon is a process where the salmon, after it has been smoked, is marinated in whisky and and seasoned before it is packaged and stored to mature. The process has contributed to a new, unique seafood product with fantastic flavours created by some of the best raw materials the Arctic can provide.

The Whisky Salmon is an exclusive high quality product, well suited for the gift segment.

Aurora Spirit

Aurora Spirit is the northernmost whisky distillery in the world, and to us, they are an important partner and whisky supplier. The distillery, which is located at the foot of the Lyngen alps, produces the award winning and now well-known whisky “Bivrost”, which is made from Arctic ingredients by local suppliers. The Whisky, which is named after an old Norse legend from the Viking age, is matured in oak barrels and stored in a disused NATO bunker from the Cold War.

Chef Laukholm

Ivar Laukholm has solid knowledge and experience in the culinary profession, both within the operation of dining establishments, an offshore chef and as chef to the Norwegian king on his fishing trips to the north. He has established 12 dining locations in the Helgeland region. Today, Chef Laukholm AS delivers spices to 100 local food stores, and has developed their own seasoning recipes based on high quality spices from Scandinavian spice suppliers.
